Lindau ON LAKE CONSTANCE

THE FLOWER-FILLED ISLAND TOWN OF LINDAU

The new lighthouse and the Bavarian lion at the harbour entrance are symbols of the town, and make arriving in Lindau by boat one of the loveliest harbour approaches on the whole of Lake Constance. And, behind Lindau in the background, is a backdrop of soaring, frequently snow-capped mountains.

HISTORICAL SQUARES AND ROMANTIC ALLEYWAYS

The old town of Lindau is situated on an island in Lake Constance which occupies an area of approx. 70 hectares. Centuries-old buildings, historical squares and romantic alleyways lend the town an almost Mediterranean flair. Situated in the extreme south-east corner of Bavaria, Lindau's widely acclaimed symbols are the Bavarian lion and the new lighthouse, classically viewed against the magnificent background of Lake Constance and panoramic views of the Alps.
The best way of getting to know the old town of Lindau is by taking part in one of the regular guided city tours. The guides take guests on a journey back through time, exploring the fascinating traditions and history of this former Imperial City.
